BIOGRAPHY – DR. JOSEPH LING
Dr Joseph Ling is a fellowship-trained refractive surgeon specialized in the full-spectrum of vision correction. He is the refractive lens and laser specialist at the Laser Eye Center of Silicon Valley.
Dr. Ling received his undergraduate degree from the Emory University majoring in neuroscience and behavioral biology. Prior to graduate school, he was a researcher at the Harvard School of Medicine in the Department of Genetics studying neuronal transcription factors. Following his research, Dr. Ling received his medical degree from the Morehouse School of Medicine. His internship was at the Emory School of Medicine, followed by ophthalmology residency at the University at Buffalo. He completed additional surgical training in complex cataract surgery at the D.D. Eye Institute in Kota, India. Thereafter, he completed his refractive surgery training with the premier refractive surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Eye Clinic.
Dr. Ling is widely published in scientific and clinical journals for his work in ophthalmology and molecular biology. He was also involved in clinical trials, including implantable collamer lens (ICL), intraocular lenses (IOLs), and refractive laser. Dr. Ling has presented at research symposiums and conferences for his work in the field of ophthalmology.
Having had SMILE vision correction himself, Dr. Ling is an advocate for elevating the patient experience and introducing vision correction to more people. He was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his compassion and philosophy on patient-centered care.
Aside from refractive surgery, Dr. Ling enjoys competitive ballroom dancing, having competed for the Harvard Ballroom dance team. He also enjoys rowing, as a former intercollegiate rower for the Emory College Crew team. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Julia, and son, Jayce.
